Performs a variety of routine training coordination, clerical, and office support functions to maintain efficient programs as well as, the education office to promote the nursing professional practice environment at Augusta Health. This position manages training program needs within the PP&E team and organization. This role will be responsible for coordination and planning of the Augusta Health AHA programs, De-escalation programs, and other programs as assigned.


Independently plans, organizes, and completes daily work under limited supervision in a manner supportive of a team environment. Will act as a liaison between the Professional Practice & Education Team and IT to effectively triage any technical issues for onboarding and education classes.


Education Requirements


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

  • Bachelors degree in a human services, education, or related field preferred; or equivalent work related experience with prior training

Experience Requirements


  • A minimum of one year of experience in project coordination is required.

  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience in an office setting, preferably in an administrative or clerical role within a healthcare setting preferred

  • One year of experience in an educational or learning environment, staff development, marketing, or information technology setting preferred


Essential Functions


Responsible for assuring that all support activities necessary for the efficient operation of the Nursing Professional Practice & Education department are accomplished. This may include, but is not limited to, Clinical Education, Nursing Onboarding & Ongoing Education, Shared Governance, Nursing Practice, Nursing Recognition programs, Nursing student coordination, Professional Development initiatives and programs, and other duties as assigned.


  • Assistant Role

    • Payroll and timekeeper responsibilities

    • Submits all purchase requisitions, reconciles all monies recorded by the training center, submit all instructor pay sheets and requests, and provide reports as needed.

    • Coordinates and supports for special event planning for department initiatives and programs

    • Clerical support for supply management and inventory needs for department

    • Other duties as assigned to support the department and nursing division with Professional Practice programs and initiatives


  • Training Program Role

    • Coordinates with the course director(s) in the scheduling, design, and implementation of AHA courses including team member, instructor, provider, and community courses.

    • Coordinates and prepares registration, scheduling, and other activities related to training programs responsible for. Coordinates instructors, training sites, and course rosters for training programs.

    • Participates in the coordination of resources within Augusta Health and the community to organize and administer educational programs.

    • Provides Heartcode support for team members.

    • Serves as a liaison to the American Heart Association (AHA).

    • Administers and participates in the Training Centers (TC) initial and subsequent site reviews. Maintains a networking relationship with other TCs.

    • Distributes and secures course completion cards and exams provided to instructors and training sites.

    • Maintains appropriate records as required to be a training center with the AHA, including records of all AHA instructors affiliated with Augusta Health by using the AHA instructor network.

    • Maintains and communicates reporting related to training programs responsible for.

    • Provides updates to the training network with current information on AHA courses, science guidelines, policies, and procedures.

    • Ensures compliance with AHA procedures to resolve complaints or problems related to the TC or courses sponsored by the TC.

    • Assists in the maintenance of educational equipment and other related supplies. Trouble-shoots and/or reports malfunctioning mannequins as they are reported by instructors. Orders replacement parts or repairs. Keeps and adequate supply of replacement parts and cleaning supplies, and orders as necessary.


  • Education/Training Support:

    • Supports equipment monitoring/maintenance (Simulation Center, Filming/Editing equipment)

    • Filming/Editing support for all education/training

    • Create interactive learning modules (with use of available software/applications)

    • Update and maintain library of all video training content

    • Coordinates room schedules and set up. Notifies environmental services and catering for classes as requested

    • Support training needs for clinical team members with technical aspect of education, training, and onboarding

    • Assists in the preparation for classes, orientation, learning module system management for the Nursing Professional Practice team

    • Maintain stock of all training materials, office supplies, and training equipment and accessories. Prepares handout materials, packets, and attendance certificates.

    • Supports Nursing team and Clinical Nurse Educators with duties related to orientation preparation for General Nursing Orientation programs (new team members & traveler/contracted staff onboarding)

    • Support for online learning management system, including but not limited to entering learners, printing rosters, running compliance reports, monitoring and tracking attendance and completion rates

    • Nursing Student onboarding support (non-clinical aspects of onboarding for both RN/PN programs, scheduling, etc.)

    • Other duties as assigned
