Summary of Job:

Assists the Lead Trimble Operator with layouts, installations, and coordination of the HVAC, Plumbing, and equipment points, sleeves, and inserts as needed to maintain progress and or productivity on all types of construction sites. Required to maintain a high level of accuracy, productivity and safety in wide variety of working conditions. He/she is also responsible for the proper care and maintenance of the Trimble unit and the associated vehicles, tools and equipment. As needed, the Trimble Helper will be required to work on different aspects of the project depending on the current need for labor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)

Assists the Lead Trimble Operator in all aspects of:

  • Schedules and attends a pre-construction meeting thru our Superintendent with the General Contractors field engineer/lay-out designee to verify project layout controls and methods to ensure that our work is installed using the same controls and methods
  • Provides recommendations of the most effective way to lay out a project.
  • Strictly follows all job specific rules and directions including but not limited to Safety, Conduct, Access, Smoking, and Parking etc.
  • Assists in coordination with the design group in HVAC, Plumbing, and equipment point layout.
  • Coordinates and maintains a published schedule with multiple superintendents and projects to allocate the proper time to complete each phase of the project.
  • Accurately layout points onsite during construction operations.
  • Verify accuracy of completed work before leaving the project.
  • Properly install hanger inserts, sleeves, and any other required layout markers during layout.
  • Effectively communicate and report plans or progress to the project superintendent upon arrival and departure of each visit
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of the Trimble equipment and necessary rods
  • Ensures that all the layout Instruments used are properly calibrated/recalibrated at the intervals required by the manufacturers recommendations or as needed by jobsite events.
  • Assists in the preparation of project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Assists with technical advice to resolve problems.
  • Assists the onsite superintendent as needed.
  • As needed, will assist in different roles on the project not related to the Trimble equipment.
  • Must be able to handle stress and job demands.
  • Must be able to cooperatively work with others.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 0-1 years of construction experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • This position requires the individual to work efficiently and effectively with little to no direct supervision after the training period. Being self-motivated to learn and achieve is essential to the success of this position.

Individuals may need to ride or drive in a vehicle for 2 or more hours at a time depending on position. Individuals working at an outside job site may be exposed to varying temperatures including very hot (above 90 degrees F) or very cold (below 32 degrees F) and all weather conditions. Individuals may be exposed to: cramped work spaces, contaminants, extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.

Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day. Must be able to climb, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently. The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Individuals may occasionally be exposed to hazardous conditions, high places and /or hazardous equipment. May work with or around chemicals that require knowledge of a safety data sheet.
