Job Description

The Business Process Excellence and Digital Lead will provide user help and business process subject matter expertise supporting the digital capabilities of Global Clinical Supply Chain (GCSC).Support activities will involve the SmartSupplies suite of applications, as well as other digital assets and capabilities built up by the group over time.Scope of responsibility will also pertain to group data analytics and team infrastructure such as SharePoint data architecture.The role will be required to assist with tracking and trending support activity, will be expected to provide ongoing process improvement ideas, and will help the group with engineering and implementation of both process and digital initiatives.

This person will also assist in the development and maintenance of SmartSupplies interface capabilities with IRT and Distribution vendors, ensuring that requirements are defined, communicated and executed. They will monitor interface messages between IRT, SmartSupplies and other vendors to resolve any failures and prevent systematic issues.The role will also serve as an subject matter expert where IRT implementations of new studies are concerned.This role will be involved in developing systems and process-based reference material for GCSC users, and with providing training to users as necessary to enhance the overall capabilities and understanding of the group.

This role will support our digital roadmap to further enhance our systems capabilities and digital architecture through increased integration and automation. Its expected that new technologies will be learned by this person over time, to support and enable more efficient workflows, to improve/automate reporting, analytics, and dashboard capabilities, and to identify and implement opportunities to utilize AI/ML into GCSC processes (as applicable).


  • Acts as a primary user and technical support for Global Clinical Supply Chain applications. Assist with analyzing support activity over time, and with support process improvement.
  • Supports GCSC SmartSupplies activities including configuration updates, user training, and ensuring systems compliance within Global Clinical Supply Chain and supporting system integration with key GCSC external vendors and internal systems.
  • Assist with GCSC analytics and data architecture, both in terms of maintaining as well as developing and improving.
  • Support the development, implementation, management of Global Clinical Supply Chain business processes. Assist in ensuring constant compliance in terms of GCSC processes, systems and documentation oversight.
  • Support the user community through creation and maintenance of reference and training material on digital capabilities. Assist with and provide training to users as necessary.
  • Contribute to new initiatives to build digital capabilities that opportunistically take advantage of new technologies including various types of algorithms, automation and artificial intelligence.

  • Bachelors degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Supply Chain/Logistics or related discipline.
  • 5+ years relevant Pharmaceutical Industry related work experience.
  • Job related experience dealing with Supply Chain operations.
  • Knowledge of, and preferably hands on experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing, clinical supply chain, and related systems (SmartSupplies, ERP, IRT, etc.) .
  • Demonstrated competency in project management and process analysis.
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, maintaining, and enhancing processes.
  • Ability to develop and implement metrics for obtaining and improving key performance targets.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external groups in helpful and congenial manner.
  • Good communication and organizational skills: ability to proactively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
