Strong leadership, management and customer service are the heart of our operations at XPO Logistics. As the Vice President, Regional you will be responsible for the management and strategic execution of our Intermodal and Drayage operating entities including the development and integration of providing capacity services to our terminals to execute deliveries for our customers. This role oversees all site activity of drivers, safety, recruiting, security, driver training and professional development of staff members and customer service.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Identify best-in-class processes to ensure the effective selecting and onboarding of candidates for the operations
  • Develop and implements the strategy necessary to train stakeholders in the hiring process throughout the organization, including hiring managers and other leadership partners. Leverages technology to ensure training is simple; effective, cost efficient and easy to update
  • Partner closely with terminal leadership to forecast capacity needs and management of capacity flows of the intermodal network to meet expected demand and maximize network profitability. Determination of the optimal utilization of human capital and equipment types to create the most efficient intermodal network.
  • Provide strategic direction to the organization to drive balanced growth with the ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix driven environment
  • Execute labor relations business strategy, including training and communications
  • Drive the development and execution of enterprise-wide, best-in-class training for frontline field leaders on positive workplace practices and how to maintain a positive work environment
  • Provide key leadership to develop and implement a strategic plan the supports company's vision and goals; communicates the strategic plan to colleagues to ensure buy in and support, modifies the plan in response to changing internal and external factors
  • Monitor the procedures with an eye for continuous improvement of the effectiveness of our delivery service and share best practices with colleagues
  • Monitor all corporate safety and security requirements plus applicable State & Federal laws and implement changes as needed to remain compliant

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 10 years of transportation or terminal management experience

It'd be great if you also have:
  • Group presentation skills and excellent negotiation skills to deal effectively with individuals and groups within and outside the organization
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach and influence employees
  • Demonstrated ability to create complex formulas in MS Excel; create queries in company software applications
  • Strong aptitude for understanding and analyzing large amounts of data from multiple sources
