The VP Controller and Treasurer is responsible for setting long term strategic vision (10+ years) and oversees planning for the accounting, treasury, tax, payroll and procurement functions, and is involved in setting organizational strategy and vision.


Sets long term strategic vision (10+ years) and oversees planning for the accounting, treasury, tax, payroll and procurement functions, and is involved in setting organizational strategy and vision. Continually aligns financial and operational performance to create economic value and reports to the executive Team on any and all aspects of division. Typically focuses on projects and initiatives that span 5-10 years, evaluates and monitors market trends.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to accounting operations, debt management, cash management, banking relations, annual audits, tax filings, sustaining a strong internal control environment, prepare & participate in all audit committee meetings throughout the year, and the assurance that published financial reporting complies with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and standards. The role is heavily involved in people leadership and talent development throughout the entire finance department. The leader must also deliver continuous improvement, via technology enhancements and process efficiencies across all areas of responsibilities. The role champions, leads and/or works on projects and initiatives that range from ensuring short term objectives are achieved up through strategic initiatives for the broader organization.

1. Ensure timely production of monthly Financial Statements, including the appropriate analysis and support of all general ledger balances.

2. Broad oversight of organization's financial transaction processing to include payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application, general ledger, monthly and annual close processes.

3. Stays abreast of relevant changes in accounting regulations. Coordinates & implements process changes necessary to ensure compliance.

4. Guides financial & business decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.

5. Protects organization's assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing adequate internal controls.

6. Responsible as lead interface on all financial & tax audits. Enures all related audit reports and tax returns are accurate and meet due dates.

7. Responsible for accurate preparation of accounting data to ensure timely and accurate records and reporting in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and corporate policies. Commands a thorough knowledge of the general ledger for all business units and the flow of information recorded in the general ledger.

8. Provides inputs to strategic direction, with the assistance of IT, for financial systems. Ensures appropriate approvals for any changes to system access, structure, general ledger accounts and subaccounts.

9. Provides oversight, review, and technical assistance for general ledger and account reconciliations.

10. Coordinates, sets and monitors the organization's accounting principles, practices and internal control procedures ensuring their effectiveness and adherence.

11. Provides technical guidance and financial support to the leadership of the organization.

12. Manage and maintain banking & treasury relations with banking partners and debt holders.

13. In partnership with CFO, participate in all audit committee meetings throughout the year, prepare presentation materials and organize external presenters, such as audit and tax providers.

14. Leading and Developing Talent: Directs organizational design for multiple departments and oversees development and training of staff. Ensures ongoing succession planning and development within and outside of unit. Actively networks and sources for positions throughout the organization.

15. Project and Change Management: Establishes project priority and timing, articulates vision for organizational changes. Authorizes use of organizational time, talent and financial resources to support projects and improvement initiatives. Manages change through effective communication and coaching throughout the organization. Builds and participates in leadership coalition supporting and implementing the change and frequently serves as Project Sponsor for major initiatives.

16. Community Engagement: Demonstrated leadership presence in the community through serving on volunteer boards, steering committees or other community committees that align with our intended impact.

17. Board of Director meetings: provides updates on financials, operations and progress towards goals for area/s of responsibility.

18. Responsible for other duties/responsibilities as assigned.


1. Bachelor's Degree, and a minimum of 10 years' experience in Controllership, treasurer, tax functions. CPA required; MBA preferred.

2. Experience leading multi-disciplined accounting teams within a large, centralized organization comprised of multiple business units.

3. Strong computer skills including MS Office, integrated accounting systems, fixed assets, budget, report writing and other software products.

4. Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable in a dynamic, remote work environment while juggling many priorities.

5. Strong written and oral communication skills, board interactions a plus.
