Description

General Description
Aircraft mechanical personnel support F-15 aircraft maintenance operations. This position may be at either one of our locations based at Mountain Home Air Force Base, ID and/ or Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, NC and requires CONUS/OCONUS travel to support maintenance operations throughout the United States and overseas. Ideal candidates are experienced F-15 aircraft maintainers with a strong background in aircraft sheet metal, structural maintenance, repair, modification, inspections, and ensuring aircraft mission readiness.
Duties
- Perform F-15 aircraft maintenance, repair, modification, troubleshooting, and component replacement of moderate difficulty, with primary emphasis on aircraft sheet metal and structural systems.
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and structural components using applicable technical data, drawings, specifications, and approved maintenance procedures.
- Perform sheet metal fabrication, fitting, drilling, riveting, fastening, removal, installation, and repair activities associated with aircraft structures and components.
- Apply technical knowledge of aircraft systems, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, structures, and mechanical components, when identifying and resolving aircraft discrepancies.
- Interpret technical publications, blueprints, engineering drawings, manufacturers' manuals, technical orders, and other approved technical documentation to resolve moderate-to-complex maintenance problems.
- Provide applicable support for Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Modification Work Orders (MWO), and Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) activities.
- Use aircraft-specific tools and equipment, including torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, shears, drills, rivet equipment, and other applicable tooling.
- Perform and support scheduled and unscheduled aircraft inspections and maintenance requirements.
- Inspect work performed by Aircraft Mechanic I and II personnel when authorized and provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
- Lead personnel through more complex aircraft maintenance or modification tasks as assigned and prioritize workload to support established aircraft schedules.
- Make required entries in aircraft logs, forms, records, and applicable maintenance information systems.
- Maintain accountability of tools, equipment, parts, and materials and comply with applicable Tool Control and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention requirements.
- Comply with applicable safety, quality, security, technical-data, and maintenance documentation requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of aircraft maintenance and modification operations.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience performing aircraft sheet-metal and structural maintenance, repair, and modification within the Aircraft Mechanic II scope of work.
- F-15 sheet-metal or structural experience is strongly preferred.
- U.S. Air Force training or awarded AFSC in 2A7X3 (Aircraft Structural Maintenance) or 2A7X1 (Aircraft Metals Technology), or equivalent formal sheet-metal / airframe training, is preferred.
- Must be able to interpret technical orders, blueprints, and engineering drawings and apply standard aircraft sheet-metal and structural repair practices.
- FAA Airframe certificate is desired but not required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance with favorable Tier 3/Secret adjudication and remain eligible for installation access, a Common Access Card, and required Government information-system access.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to work the normal Monday-Friday day shift, 0700-1530, and approved overtime or adjusted schedules when mission requirements change.
- Must hold a valid state driver's license when vehicle or airfield-operation duties are assigned.
- Must comply with Tyonek, installation, OSHA, environmental, safety, security, FOD-prevention, tool-control, and hazardous-material procedures applicable to assigned work.

- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods and climb stairs, ramps, ladders, aircraft, and maintenance stands.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, kneel, bend, reach, work in confined areas, and use tools with the dexterity required by the assignment.
- May be required to lift and carry up to 35 pounds; heavier items require approved lifting assistance or equipment.
- Must be able to read instruments, technical data, and small scales; communicate clearly; detect warnings; distinguish colors; and judge depth.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and satisfy applicable medical-surveillance, respirator, hearing, and fit-for-duty requirements.
