Salary: 45,000 – 67,000
Pay is based on certifications. Candidates with certifications at the time of hire may start at a higher rate of pay, and salary increases are provided as additional certifications are earned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts field inspections of properties to ensure code compliance
Review’s construction plans to ensure compliance with codes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Employees who do not possess all required certifications at the time of hire must successfully obtain them within twenty-four (24) months of their hire date. The City is committed to supporting employees throughout the certification process by providing training, mentoring, and payment of certification examination fees for all required certifications.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED. Some college or trade school preferred.
Preferred field experience in building inspection, construction, or specialty trade.
Valid Driver’s License.
Must currently hold, or willing and able to obtain, the following required certifications
B1 Residential Building Inspector
E1 Residential Electrical Inspector
M1 Residential Mechanical Inspector
P1 Residential Plumbing Inspector
Additional preferred certifications
B2 Commercial Building Inspector
E2 Commercial Electrical Inspector
M2 Commercial Mechanical Inspector
P2 Commercial Plumbing Inspector
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Municipal, State and Federal building codes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Ability to read engineering and truss shop drawings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 30 pounds of force to move objects and the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed both indoors and outdoors. Employee is exposed to noise, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals, insects and inclement weather when working outdoors. Employee may be exposed to difficult individuals.
