Inspire is an East London charity with over 30 years' experience helping children and young people develop the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to succeed in education and employment.

Through partnerships with schools, local authorities, employers and volunteers, we deliver careers education, employability programmes and independent careers guidance across North and East London.

Our Careers Advisers play a vital role in helping young people make informed choices about their future, overcome barriers and access opportunities that enable them to achieve their potential.

The Opportunity

We are looking for qualified Level 6 Careers Advisers to join our network of self-employed associates.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced careers professionals seeking flexible, meaningful work within schools. We are particularly interested in advisers who can commit to regular days throughout the academic year, with work allocated based on programme and school demand.

Assignments are delivered primarily in schools across North and East London, with some remote delivery where required. Work is term-time only and includes support on GCSE Results Day.

You will provide impartial careers information, advice and guidance to young people, helping them explore options, make informed decisions and progress successfully into further education, training or employment.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality one-to-one careers guidance interviews with young people.
• Produce personalised action plans and maintain accurate records in line with school and contractual requirements.
• Deliver engaging workshops, assemblies and group guidance sessions.
• Support schools in delivering effective careers education and work-related learning.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, school staff and external professionals.
• Contribute to parents' evenings and other school events as required.
• Maintain accurate performance data and reporting requirements.
• Record and manage confidential client information on a secure database, adhering to agreed security and data protection protocols in accordance with GDPR and organisational procedures.
• Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding, promoting the welfare of children and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Work in accordance with Inspire's safeguarding, equality, health and safety, and data protection policies.
   

Qualifications

You must hold one of the following:

• Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (or equivalent)
• Qualification in Careers Guidance (QCG)
• Diploma in Careers Guidance Parts 1 and 2
• Another recognised professional qualification equivalent to Level 6

Essential

• Recent experience delivering careers guidance to young people in secondary schools or colleges.
• Excellent interviewing, communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate young people from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong presentation and group facilitation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Commitment to equality, inclusion and challenging stereotypes.
• Good knowledge of education, training and progression pathways for young people.
• A commitment to remaining up to date with best practice and labour market information.
• Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings for parents' events.
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when working with children and young people.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute as part of a wider team.
