Job Summary
The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and delivery of advanced software and cloud-based solutions supporting space and defense missions. The role oversees software engineering activities, system architecture, prototype development, technical documentation, Agile development, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver secure, scalable, and mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the full software development lifecycle from requirements analysis through deployment and support.
Develop software prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions.
Participate in Agile planning, code reviews, testing, debugging, and sprint activities.
Support system architecture, design, and engineering decisions.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, including system designs and requirements.
Recommend software enhancements and system improvements.
Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams.
Design and implement secure software solutions and cloud-based applications.
Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities.
Develop and integrate space and ground system software solutions.
Apply cybersecurity best practices throughout software development.
Utilize version control and Agile development tools.
Support continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies and engineering methodologies.
Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
10+ years of engineering leadership and software development experience.
Experience with C++, C#, Java/Groovy, or Python.
Knowledge of secure software development practices.
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
Experience designing and implementing DoD space systems.
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Experience using GitLab, Jira, Confluence, and modern development environments.
Strong leadership, communication, and technical documentation skills.
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
