The Uniformed Services University, invites applicants to apply for a Graduate Student position in the USU Graduate Programs.
The Graduate Student will be responsible for facilitating, supporting, and managing the research activities of USU. In that capacity, the Graduate Education Office will oversee
all matters dealing with research and sponsored research programs at USU or external research and sponsored programs conducted through USU. The Graduate Education office is responsible for all aspects of research administration.
The Graduate Student is responsible for conducting research projects and educational and administrative teaching activities; assisting in development, implementation, and management of research projects addressing issues relating to emerging infectious diseases, medical psychology, molecular and cell biology, neuroscience or public health. The student will serve as a member of a research team carrying out biomedical research protocols under the direction of a principal investigator.
Major responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting in the design and execution of scientific research to include the organization and management; of scientific resources, and implementing scientific research; data collection, entry and analyses; literature reviews; assistance with the preparation and submission of manuscripts for publication and applications for fellowships, grants and other forms of extramural funding; and assistance with the preparation and presentation of materials for educational events, institutional seminars and local, national and international scientific meetings.
The student will be required to successfully complete specialized training as required by their supervisor.

Requirements

Each applicant must complete a baccalaureate degree program from an accredited academic institution.

This level of expertise and knowledge may also be evidenced by possession of a Bachelors degree in the area of science required by the position, combined with a minimum of one year of specialized experience in the scientific specialization required by the position. Students should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Expertise in emerging infectious diseases, medical psychology, molecular and cell biology, neuroscience or preventive medicine are desired.
Students accepted for this position shall be required to successfully complete a security background investigation. Failure to meet the background investigation requirements will result in the withdrawal of the position offer or removal from the position.
This position will take place primarily in a laboratory and classroom setting.
