Requirements
The pay range for this position is $60.00 to $69.00 per hour and is DOE.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful Journeyman Lineman candidate must be able to:
Construct, maintain and repair distribution and transmission circuits
Safely troubleshoot problems with electrical components from 120 V to 34,500 V
Properly size fuses and install transformers
Troubleshoot, repair and maintain overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems
Install, remove and read single and three phase electrical meters
Construct new services
Maintain and repair of power line hardware and substation equipment
Carry out the directives set out by the Power Operations Superintendent
Mentor and train Apprentices
Inspect, maintain, and operate all motor & commercial vehicles safely in accordance with all applicable laws
Perform other duties as assigned
Must be a safety conscious worker who adheres to and helps expand a safety culture
Must be able to respond within 20 minutes to emergency outages, and trouble calls during off-working hours
Must participate in an on-call rotation
Be willing to travel to various locations in Alaska to perform required duties
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have H.S. Diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited 4-year Lineman Apprenticeship.
Hold a current certificate of fitness in the State of Alaska or be able to acquire one within 6 months.
Must be able to pass pre-employment check and drug testing. May be subject to random testing without notice.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
2 years' experience in power line construction and maintenance as a Journeyman Lineman
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
ADL, Class A CDL, First Aid Card, CPR Card, Flagging Certificate, Pole Top & Bucket Rescue Training, Rubber Gloving Training, Transformer Training and Hot Stick Training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
Must be able to safely lift up to 70lbs on a regular basis
Must be able to see a full spectrum of color
Position requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, speaking, hearing, seeing, depth perception, color vision, stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and reaching/working overhead.
This position requires work inside and outside in conditions inherent to an industrial environment.
The position requires wearing PPE and you must refrain from wearing loose clothing.
Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions.
Must be able to climb poles and ladders.
Must be capable of working out of a bucket truck.
Must be able to safely climb poles and work at heights up to 80 feet.
