Job Description:
This job is responsible for managing complex specialty assets such as farm and ranch land, timberland, oil and gas interests, real estate, mineral interests, and private businesses while delivering fiduciary oversight and client support. Key responsibilities include asset reviews, client and prospect meetings and contributing to new business activities. Job expectations include applying sound judgment, demonstrating independence, partnering closely with relationship teams, and providing accurate and timely information while operating under the guidance of leadership.
The Oil & Gas Land and Title Analyst is responsible for administering a diverse portfolio of oil, gas, and mineral assets held within fiduciary and investment accounts serviced by Bank of America's Specialty Asset Management group. This role performs complex land, title, and ownership analysis, supports revenue administration activities, and provides technical expertise regarding oil and gas property ownership and operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, collaborative, and comfortable working cross-functionally with internal teams, operators, land professionals, attorneys, and other industry partners. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment while growing alongside a driven team.
Responsibilities:
Ownership & Title Analysis
- Review and analyze division orders, deeds, probate documents, leases, assignments, and other title documents.
- Verify mineral ownership interests and confirm title ownership for fiduciary accounts.
- Research title discrepancies and resolve ownership issues with operators, purchasers, attorneys, and land professionals.
- Analyze legal descriptions, gross and net acreage calculations, lease burden, and ownership percentages.
- Review title curative requirements and coordinate corrective actions.
Asset Administration
- Establish and maintain oil and gas properties, wells, payors, and ownership records within internal systems.
- Coordinate the setup of new accounts, properties, wells, and producing interests.
- Administer asset transfers, ownership changes, account terminations, and asset distributions.
- Maintain accurate ownership and lease data across specialty asset platforms.
Revenue Management
- Monitor royalty, working interest, and other oil and gas income payments.
- Research payment discrepancies, suspended revenues, and escheated funds.
- Identify and resolve improper deductions, title-related payment holds, and underpayments.
- Pursue statutory interest claims and other recoverable amounts when appropriate.
- Review and analyze joint interest billings (JIBs) for accuracy, ownership compliance, and adherence to operating agreements.
Land & Lease Administration
- Establish, maintain, and administer oil and gas leases
- Monitor lease obligations and key contractual terms.
- Assist with lease negotiations, acquisitions, divestitures, and special projects.
- Support due diligence activities for mineral asset transactions.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure fiduciary responsibilities are met in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready records.
- Identify operational, legal, and title-related risks associated with specialty assets.
- Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal control standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in oil and gas land administration, title analysis, division order administration, or mineral asset management.
- Bachelor's degree in Energy Management, Petroleum Land Management, Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field considered a plus.
- Certified Professional Lease and Title Analyst (CPLTA), Registered/Certified Professional Landman (RPL/CPL), or related designation a plus.
- Experience with fiduciary, trust, estate, or specialty asset management a plus.
- Strong understanding of:
- Oil and gas ownership structures

- Experience interpreting legal descriptions and ownership documents.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and oil & gas data systems.
- Knowledge of major producing basins, including the Permian, Eagle Ford, Haynesville, and Mid-Continent regions.
- Experience with oil and gas accounting, revenue administration, or land management software.
- Familiarity with title research databases and county record systems.
