The Williston Police Department has a strong commitment to its community policing mission. Whether you are an experienced Law Enforcement Officer or exploring a career in policing for the first time, we offer opportunities for candidates at all levels.

All applicants must successfully complete a physical agility test. Applicants with less than two years of licensed law enforcement experience are also required to pass a written exam.

Entry level candidates selected for employment will be sponsored through the North Dakota Peace Officer Training Academy to obtain their peace officer license. The academy is a 12 week course located in Bismarck, North Dakota and provides the training necessary to bein a rewarding career in law enforcement.

Salary- Entry Level: Police Recruit: $55,692 (Salary during police academy)
Police Officer: $65,520 (Salary upon completion of police academy and becoming ND POST licensed). The City of Williston offers a $2,500 recruitment bonus!

Salary- Lateral:-$65,520- $85,489, DOE
- Prior licensed law enforcement experience is credited at the discretion of the department.

- The City of Williston offers a $5,000 recruitment bonus to eligible lateral applicants.
