Description
Job Summary:The Research Assistant assists with one or more research projects being conducted at the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD). Research projects include grant, contract, and revenue funded activities focused on evaluating and implementing Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Supports and maintains research processes such as IRB management, human subjects and ethics training and certification tracking, research assessment license management, and survey development and deployment through web-based data-collection software.
2. Works with data through activities such as entering and cleaning datasets; scoring instruments; reviewing and coding focus groups and interviews; maintaining research tracking systems; and conducting simple statistical analyses.
3. Reports data through activities such as creating summary reports, infographics, and progress reports. Assists with the preparation of manuscripts for publication. Helps prepare presentations on the KPICD's research and evaluation activities.
4. Assists with preparing research and training protocols and materials for use as part of research and evaluation projects and with administrative tasks relevant to research projects.
5. Assists with the undergraduate research lab and supports student research.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related discipline.
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Experience in a research or applied setting.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• None
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
• TBRI Practitioner
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications.
• Skill in effective writing.
• Skill in administrative techniques that will permit effective and efficient work in an office setting.
• Ability to interact and effectively communicate within a diverse work setting, both individually and in groups.
• Ability to demonstrate passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to equity and community-centered work.
• Ability to work independently under the supervision of KPICD Research Leadership, while successfully completing complex assignments such as data collection, data management, and report preparation.
• Ability to use web-based resources such as online data-collection software.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a research team.
• Ability to interact with children and adults in field settings, sometimes in sensitive situations.
• Ability to communicate clearly.

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
