ULTRA t Equipment Company is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer for our CVD equipment design, build, and test group with specific experience in energy enhanced CVD chemistry, processes, and systems. The role is a major contributor in research and development efforts designing, building, and integrating components and controls for thin-film deposition equipment based on novel CVD processes, and will require direct interaction with our components, systems, and automation software engineering group. In addition, the engineer will support application specific projects demonstrating the equipment capabilities, and exploring new engineering principles for thin-film applications.

ULTRA t Equipment Company is seeking an experienced Senior R&D Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and commercialization of advanced thin-film deposition systems for the microelectronics industry.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) equipment, vacuum systems, and energy-enhanced deposition technologies. The position will work closely with mechanical, chemical, software, and automation engineering teams to develop innovative process equipment and support customer application projects.
Location:
This position is based in Fremont, California and requires regular on-site participation. Candidates located in the Bay Area are preferred, though qualified candidates willing to relocate will be considered.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering/science field (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred)
5+ years of professional experience with CVD thin-film deposition equipment
Experience with plasma, laser-enhanced, or other energy-assisted deposition technologies
Hands-on experience designing, building, operating, and troubleshooting thin-film deposition systems and vacuum equipment
PLC design and controls integration experience
Experience with full-cycle PCB design, from schematic development through manufacturing
Strong technical problem-solving and project execution skills
Ability to provide examples of technical reports, publications, presentations, or similar work demonstrating relevant experience
Preferred Skills:
Laser systems, optics, and photochemistry
Semiconductor or microelectronics equipment development
Vacuum systems and process development
SolidWorks CAD
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Cleanroom experience
Design of Experiments (DOE) and data analysis
Knowledge of SEMI, CE, UL, or other industry standards
Experience in R&D environments and cross-functional project teams
Ideal Candidate:
We're seeking a highly motivated engineer with experience in thin-film deposition technologies who can independently contribute to technical projects from concept through implementation. Candidates with backgrounds in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Semiconductor Equipment Engineering, or related technical disciplines are encouraged to apply. Industry experience is highly valued, though candidates with advanced degrees and relevant research experience will also be considered.
