Service Operations Manager

A well-established, family-owned automotive dealership in Central Texas is seeking an experienced Service Operations Manager to lead our Service Department and provide leadership oversight of our Maintenance Department.
This is a key leadership position responsible for developing a high-performing team, driving operational and financial results, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Service Operations Manager directly leads the Main Shop while coaching and holding the Maintenance Manager accountable for the performance of the Maintenance Department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Service Department, including Service Advisors, Technicians, Warranty Administration, Cashiers, Receptionists, and Porters.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to the Maintenance Manager to ensure the Maintenance Department is properly supervised and meeting performance expectations.
- Achieve sales, gross profit, net profit, expense, productivity, and market share objectives across service operations.
- Manage appointments, shop capacity, technician dispatching, RO cycle time, and work in process to maximize efficiency and capture available business.
- Establish clear performance goals and hold the team accountable for results.
- Recruit, train, coach, develop, and retain high-performing employees.
- Grow service sales through proactive customer contact, retention efforts, and consistent review of lost business.
- Maintain strong Customer Satisfaction performance and ensure a professional, efficient, and positive customer experience.
- Manage warranty receivables, loaner repair orders, shop supplies, policy adjustments, and departmental expenses.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards, OSHA requirements, dealership policies, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain strong relationships with manufacturer representatives.
- Coach and reinforce dealership Core Values throughout service operations.

Requirements
- Proven automotive dealership service management or leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of service department financials, technician productivity, workflow, and operational KPIs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold employees and managers accountable.
- Proven track record of growing sales and profitability while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
- Strong understanding of appointment capacity, technician dispatching, repair order management, and work in process.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team.
- Commitment to operational excellence, customer service, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Domestic franchise dealership experience preferred.
