The United States Marine Corps is hiring licensed attorneys to become Marine Judge Advocates. Marine Judge Advocates immediately carry a robust caseload and will quickly gain high-level litigation experience in federal court. They attain unparalleled leadership traits and management skills as a Marine Officer, setting themselves up for success regardless of subsequent career choices.
In their first tour, Judge Advocates will serve in many of the following roles:
Trial Counsel: Manage NCIS criminal investigations and bring felonies and misdemeanors to courts martial
Defense Counsel: Uphold constitutional protections by representing Marines and Sailors accused of crimes
Legal Assistance Counsel: Supervise legal aid clinics and provide legal advice to Marines and their families
Victim’s Legal Counsel: Provide legal advice, counseling, and representation to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other crimes. Protect victims’ rights at all stages of the military justice process
Deputy Staff Judge Advocate: Advise Marine commanders on a wide array of legal and operational considerations, both stateside and while deployed abroad
Eligibility:
-Bachelor’s Degree with a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
-U.S. Citizen
-Under 40 years of age
-Possesses, or is willing to work towards, above-average physical fitness
-Demonstrated leadership potential
