About You
You’re an experienced veterinary technician who enjoys keeping a hospital running safely, smoothly, and efficiently behind the scenes. In this role, you’ll support facility maintenance, equipment upkeep, repairs, compliance, and daily operations to help ensure our team, patients, and clients have a clean, safe, and functional environment.
This is a great opportunity for a vet tech who enjoys problem-solving, organization, and equipment troubleshooting while continuing to make an impact in veterinary medicine outside of a traditional technician role.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily facility operations and help ensure treatment areas, kennels, surgical suites, and public spaces remain clean, safe, functional, and well-maintained.
- Coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, and vendor services to minimize downtime, especially in critical hospital areas.
- Partner with hospital leadership, Thrive’s supply chain team, and the hospital inventory manager to support facility budgeting, supply ordering, equipment needs, repairs, and related expenditures.
- Help ensure the hospital remains aligned with applicable regulations, safety standards, accreditation requirements, and internal protocols.
- Support team training related to equipment use, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage communication with contractors and vendors for warranty services, preventive maintenance contracts, equipment maintenance, and repair needs while ensuring timely, high-quality service.
- Monitor the condition and functionality of facility and hospital equipment, including surgical equipment, diagnostic tools, Snyders, IV pumps, telemetry, and heating/cooling systems.
- Maintain safety and security protocols to help provide a safe environment for team members, pets, and clients.
- Keep accurate records of facility maintenance, equipment inventory, repairs, preventive maintenance, and safety inspections.
- Assist with additional hospital needs and projects as requested.
Requirements
- Veterinary technician experience is required; specialty or emergency experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn and manage facility-related technologies and systems.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, building systems, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work in a veterinary hospital setting with exposure to animals and varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and regularly walk, stand, bend, and work in varying conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, with on-call availability for emergencies.
